This is not a nude event. Harbin Hot Springs allows nudity ONLY in and around their pools, not in the main areas. Our conference center is secluded and distinct from the rest of Harbin Hot Springs, but the pools are within a 5 minute walk. Only the retreat participants will be allowed in our retreat area – no non-merfolk guests. We have our own two pools. “Shells optional” means that merfolk are not required to wear tops, but there is no pressure one way or the other. It is just an option for women who want to feel free and empowered in a merpositive environment.
Should I rent a car?
Yes, unless you want to share a ride with another guest. Harbin Hot Springs is about a 3 hour drive from San Francisco International Airport. You can rent a car at the airport or try to find someone to carpool or share the cost of a rental car with. If you are interested in offering a ride or sharing a ride, please join the event on Facebook and post there with what you need or want to offer!
What airport should I fly into?
Sacramento and San Francisco are the same distance from Middletown. The drive from San Francisco is more scenic, but during “rush hour,” it’s a parking lot. It is a 2 and 1⁄2 hour drive to Harbin from either city, or more like 3 hour drive from SF in traffic. If you are hoping to share a ride, we recommend you fly into SF as most rideshares will be coming from the Bay Area.
What accommodations are available?
Harbin’s accomodations are lovely and various and can be found on their website at www.harbin.org. Camping is included in your $295 rate. You can sleep on the Harbin “sleeping decks” without a tent, but you will need a sleeping bag, blow up mattress or bedding, etc. You can also pitch a tent at various camping locations at Harbin (BYO camping gear). You can also rent a room indoors (dorm room, cabin, or domes) for an additional fee not included in the $295. These indoor rooms and tent camping sites are generally a 5-10 minute hilly walk from the retreat center area we will be using. See Harbin’s accommodations here. Additionally, the Eagle Rose Inn is about $80/night, clean and about a 5 minute drive away in Middletown. Visit www.eagleandroseinn.com
will be presenting and will provide an opportunity to have your photo taken with her.
Harbin does not have cell phone reception. Please plan on printing driving directions, as part of the windy mountain road also does not have cell phone service.
